Let’s face it; Disney vacations don’t come cheap! This is especially true when you’re traveling with several people. I have great news, however! There are lots of things you can conveniently purchase, before leaving home. Here are six possibilities to consider that will save you money on a Disney trip.
Autograph Book
A traditional activity for younger kids visiting the park has always been collecting autographs from their favorite Disney characters. There are lots of expensive autograph books in every park gift shop. But, simply using a plain journal or buying a Disney-themed autograph book online is a much cheaper way to start your child on their quest for signatures.
Chances are you’ll find autograph books very similar to the ones sold at Disney World on sites like Amazon or those of other book retailers. All it takes is a little research.
Disney-Themed Clothing/Costumes
Some members of your group may prefer to wear Disney-related clothing or even costumes while exploring the park. While you can easily find tons of options on sale park-wide, clothing items are much cheaper outside the gates. You will save a ton from buying your child that princess dress before you leave home.
Even if you plan to hand out clothing and souvenirs, at some point, you can order things online and gift them during the trip or once you return from your vacation. Everyone will still appreciate it, even if their bounty wasn’t actually purchased at the park and they will never know the difference.
Trading Pins
At every Disney theme park location, kids of all ages can’t wait to trade special Disney-themed pins with their favorite Disney characters. Count on this pin collection to change and expand with each trip you take to visit Mickey.
You can also buy these pins in the park, but, you typically save money purchasing them online or at an outlet store. To ensure they’re eligible for trading, each pin must still have its original back attached to be an official Walt Disney product.
Glow Gear
When it beings to get dark in the park, it’s sometimes difficult to keep your children in range every second. This puts them at risk of getting lost or injured in especially crowded areas.
Disney World gift shops sell special glow stickers, which makes it easier to keep track of everyone after the sun goes down. However, as you probably guess, the stickers are quite expensive. What’s an affordable solution? Glow sticks, glow bracelets and other products that help keep your kids visible to the rescue! You may even be able to stock up at your local dollar store, before leaving home.
Water Bottles
If you have your own water bottles, it’s super simple to take advantage of free refills at any of the various drink stations throughout WDW. Make sure each member of your party has a sturdy water bottle with them when you’re in the park. It’s the best way to avoid running the risk of dehydration. Better yet, reusable water bottles are typically inexpensive and can be purchased from a wide variety of retailers.
Snacks
Of course, you don’t want to deprive yourself completely of some of the delicious treats Disney World to offer. However, indulging in these snacks too frequently can really cut into your vacation budget. Load up on less expensive (healthy) snacks outside the park, to keep with you in case hunger strikes. The Disney Dining Plan can also be a great way to save money while on your Disney vacation.
These are just six things to buy, before heading off on a Disney World adventure that are guaranteed to save you money. The more you save, the more you’ll have to spend on making magical memories! This is a trip you don’t want to miss simply because it is hard to fit in your budget.
