When it comes to planning a vacation for the family, it can get hectic. This is especially true if the kids are little. Where do you go? When is the best time to go? How will you travel? There is a lot that can go into the decision-making process. They can also cost a ton!
There are some things you can do and places you can go where you can include the entire family and make great memories while everyone gets to have fun. Family vacations don’t have to be perfect or expensive, but they do have to be something that you can mutually agree on to an extent. Here are five great ideas of things that you can do with your kids for a fun trip that won’t break the bank.
Camping
You can go to a local campground where you can either use an RV or a tent. Most have electrical outlets, a grill, laundry facility and bathrooms where you can take a shower and change. A campground on a lake will give you the added bonus of going swimming while you’re on vacation. The opportunity for a campfire to roast marshmallows, tell stories and just spend time as a family also presents itself.
This can be a lot of fun. Personally, I am a bit more into glamping, which is glamour camping and I would need that RV along for the trip.
The Beach
Reserve a room and stay at the beach. A lot of these places will also have a pool available to take the children to while you are staying there. There will be restaurants and local attractions you can visit while you’re there. You can even shop for a few souvenirs at local shops to take memories home in physical form. This can be so much fun if you have a beach near you or can do the trip in just takes a few hours drive.
National Parks
There are numerous national parks around the country, some with campgrounds where you can stay during vacation and some with nearby hotels. The parks allow you to see and experience nature first hand. There are streams, mountains and trails through the woods that the whole family can enjoy. Some of the national parks have themed activities to participate in. Certain natural parks offer passes that reduce the cost of admission to the park and some can even be found free depending on what you are planning. This can save a lot of money.
Farms
While not your traditional family vacation, a trip to a farm can be fun for the entire family. You can learn to care for the animals and crops while actually having fun. You can also take some time to unplug from technology as you go about the daily chores. The time spent in the country will provide you with fresh air while forcing you to slow down and relax. The solitude can actually help you clear your mind and stay in the present. Check around in your area for a farm that will let you come out for the day.
These five ideas for vacating with the family will give you a fun, relaxing time everyone will remember for years to come. These are also trips that you can take on a limited budget.
